JLABS Program | Navigating Competing Interests in Your IP Strategy

Collaborations can be key to accelerate the development of healthcare innovations, but the more stakeholders you involve, the more complicated it can get to balance competing interests. Whether innovators are looking for investments, research collaborations, services or potential partners, they need to have an Intellectual Property (IP) strategy in place every step of the way.

During this Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS program you will learn from different stakeholders how they think about IP strategies. Their different approaches may help inform how you might want to finetune your own IP strategy and protect what is rightfully your invention whenever you explore collaboration with others. You’ll also hear about recent developments such as the introduction of the Unitary Patent Convention through which a patent can be filed in up to 25 EU member states at once. You’ll also hear about IP strategies for emerging therapies with multiple stakeholders involved, such as precision medicine, companion diagnostics and CAR-T.
