REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. While REDCap can be used to collect virtually any type of data, it is specifically geared to support online or offline data capture for research studies and operations. The REDCap Consortium, a vast support network of collaborators, is composed of thousands of active institutional partners in over one hundred countries who utilize and support REDCap in various ways.

While REDCap can be used for simple one-off public surveys without storing data on third party servers, it excels for longitudinal data capture in multiple forms and for multicenter clinical studies.

Projects can combine data capture in electronic Case Report Forms (eCRF) with automated survey invitations for PROMs.

REDCap at the Ghent University Hospital is managed and supported by the HIRUZ Data management unit (DMU) free of charge for UZ Gent/UGent researchers. The DMU provides support and advice.
