KCE – BeNeFIT4: Fourth BeNeFIT call for comparative effectiveness studies with ZonMw

  • Post category:Funding Open

What and for who?
The BeNeFIT call focuses on comparative effectiveness trials, in which Dutch and Belgian institutions jointly conduct non-commercial practice-oriented research, which show clear value for money and have the potential for return on investment in both Belgium and the Netherlands.

Those studies compare two treatment options (with ‘no treatment’ being one of the possible treatment options) that are already in use in clinical practice in a given indication in both Belgium and the Netherlands, but are not yet sufficiently directly compared (i.e. which of the two treatment options work best in daily practice). Accepted study interventions are not limited to drugs or medical devices but also include a broad range of interventions, such as psychotherapy, diet, diagnostic tests, surgery or ways to deliver health care. Proposals will be selected based on the need for evidence in clinical practice and possible efficiency improvement and potential return on investment for the Dutch and Belgian health care systems.

Research teams from institutions in Belgium and the Netherlands can apply to this call. The sponsor (the main applicant) should be located in one of the two countries and should be supported by a national coordinating centre in the other country.

Support of HIRUZ
Investigators from U(Z)Gent with a research proposal will have the support of the Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) of Health, Innovation and Research Institute (HIRUZ) to submit and perform the proposed clinical trial. For more information and support, please contact HIRUZ CTU via hiruz.ctu@uzgent.be or 09/332.09.08 (Joke Tommelein).

Deadline: 28 January 2025
